San Francsico, 1974. The post-parade gathering after the Pride Parade, in Golden Gate Park's Elysian Fields. Thousands of stirring feet caused the dust to rise, reminding me of a tribal gathering, as the sun's rays scudded in low from the west. (57K JPEG image.)

This place no longer exists. Does its occupant, the Psychic Reader? I had long been intrigued by this old house on what is now part of Portland State University's grounds, with its orange-pink "Psychic Reader" neon in the window. The day that I photographed it, the Reader, intrigued by my interest, leaned out from the porch to feel my vibes. I wonder what she discovered about me? (44K JPEG image.)
