FEBRUARY 6-8, 2009. Ochlockonee River Stone Age & Primitive Arts Festival. Attention all Knappers and Primitive Artists, Ochlockonee River State Park will host the Ochlockonee River Stone Age & Primitive Arts Festival on February 6-8, 2009. This is the weekend prior to the Knap- In held in Dade City, Florida. Travelers from out of state will be able to attend two events in one week! The Ochlockonee River event is dedicated to stone age technologies and primitive arts such as flint knapping, primitive ceramics, old and new world bow and arrow construction, Atl-atl construction, prehistoric carving techniques and other stone age art forms. Our goal is to showcase these ancient art forms and educate the public on the world’s rich prehistory. If you plan to register and put merchandise up for sale, there will be a small vending fee of $30.00. This fee will be waived for registered demonstrators not selling. All displays must be related to prehistory and park staff reserves the right to have any display not related to the theme removed from public viewing. The sale of knapping tools and materials is welcome. The sale of authentic artifacts of antiquity will be prohibited. Only reproductions, please. The park has four covered shelters that may be utilized by participants. This space is limited so plan on bringing your own tables, chairs and display tent. Registered vendors and demonstrators will be permitted to camp at their display site for free. Our attendance for the first annual event last year was 1,595 visitors, a good number for our remote location. This year we anticipate an even greater attendance.
