WWDXC Field Day!

This year's Field Day is the last full weekend in June, beginning at 11 AM local time (that's 1800Z) on Saturday, June 25. The WWDXC will be sponsoring Field Day at the QTH of Brian, N9ADG, on a hilltop near Preston - a fine QTH for working US and Canada stations.

In the planning stages thus far are four stations - SSB, CW, VHF, and digital modes. Considerable work has been done already in planning for the antennas, rigs, power, and most important - food! But before the first signals radiate outward into the ether, the stations need to be set up and operators will be needed to make it all happen. That's where YOUR participation is needed.

Please let our station captains know if you are available to operate, log, or help with setting up and tearing down.

Jobs are open for Field Day - apply now! Contact Herb, W7ZF, or Joe, W7QN or Brian, N9ADG.

  • Operate a station - SSB, CW, VHF, and digital modes
  • Do log keeping on a laptop PC
  • Help set up the stations on Friday evening or Saturday morning
  • Bring needed supplies - gasoline, ropes, wire, generator, food, etc.
  • Stop by the Field Day site and provide encouragement to the operators
  • Have a beer. Better yet, bring some beer!

 

Each of the following will add 100 easy points to our score. Can you do one?

  • Publicity - write an article describing the Field Day operation and submit it to a local publication.
  • Make a satellite QSO
  • Make a QSO with "natural" power
  • Copy the W1AW Field Day message on either CW or RTTY. This can be done Friday evening before Field Day begins.
  • Originate a Field Day message to the SCM.

Here’s a Map

From I90 (Seattle), head east to exit 22 - Preston/Fall City exit.

Turn left at the end of the off ramp, going towards Fall City.

At the "T" stay right, go past the general store/post-office/coffee place. Continue past the propane place on the left. Continue past the empty field on the left.

Look for a LEFT TURN on 308th Ave -- take it.

Go two blocks, to turn LEFT on 308th Avenue again. Go 2.5 miles up, up, up, the hill (there will be a sharp right in the middle, continue up).

At the "five corners", bear right to continue on the pavement. Go past the Mitchell Hill sign, then continue for a couple of hundred yards to the first driveway past the SE 60th sign - our driveway is #5928 308th Ave SE.
