 Accio Dictionaries 1.0
The Accio Dictionary for Macintosh and Windows is part of a new brand of dictionaries from Ultralingua for those users who need a simpler, more affordable dictionary for use in reading on their computer. The Accio Dictionary includes up to 80,000 indexed translations, along with idiomatic expressions, slang, and indications of usage. The Accio Dictionaries feature all of the vocabulary needed for everyday usage and traveling, but are lighter and have fewer features than standard Ultralingua dictionaries. The company has recently released Accio dictionaries for iPod, complete with talking phrasebooks, and plans releases of versions for Palm OS and Windows Mobile later this year.

Dilo looks up words at http://dict.leo.org and shows the english/french or german translation of that word. It is kind of comparable to "Babylon"® for Windows®, but uses a public web-dictionary instead of having a local one. if you want to see how LEO works, please go to http://dict.leo.org and try it out yourself. You can start up Dilo directly and enter something into the search field to search for or you can call it through the services menu Define in Dilo or Define French in Dilo. It doesn't matter whether you are searching for an english/french description of a german word or vice versa. Just select the word in the editor you are using, choose "Services->Define in Dilo" and that's it.

OmniDictionary is a Mac OS X client for network dictionary servers. It's pretty straightforward - type a word into the entry field, hit return, and the definition is displayed. If the dictionary server supports multiple dictionaries, you can select your desired dictionary from the dictionary popup to limit queries to that specific dictionary, or you can query all the dictionaries. Since OmniDictionary is simply a client for dictionary servers on the web, you have to be connected to the Internet (or have access to a local dictionary server) in order to be able to perform lookups.
