The basics of sacred science found in traditions around the world will be introduced in
this retreat -- dreaming, healing, timekeeping, and astronomy. As the Phoenix rose
with the new moon after three days of darkness, this retreat is a time of
preparation for new beginnings symbolized by the Phoenix. This retreat speaks to the
essence of truth, creativity and goodwill through right relationship of body, mind, and
spirit.
More wars have been fought for authority over the sacred in human society than all political and economic disputes. The innate knowing that an awesome intelligence empowers the movement of life is so native to human nature that reverence and connection with this intelligence drives civilizations. There are as many ways to seek the sacred as there are people to seek it. But when the veils of illusion are cleared away through seeking, knowledge of source is universal.
Despite the organizational objectives and structures, the same symbols are found in virtually every religion. The Tree of Life is studied in the inner sanctums of Judaism. The Native American Sun Dance is conducted around a living tree. Still found within all religious practices, the tree and serpent were the first symbols revered on Earth.
These symbols have endured throughout human history because they speak at profound levels of consciousness beyond the reach of words. Through deep levels of consciousness, these symbols invoke understanding that transport the mind and soul beyond the mundane. Symbols that transcend the limitations of language are revered as sacred wherever found.
This is to say that the sacred elevates consciousness in pursuit of the infinite potential of source, a lofty goal pursued by masters of the human condition. That which offers clarity in this pursuit is sacred, whether it is practice, time, or place. The essence of ritual is practice that elevates awareness during favorable times at amenable locations.
In native traditions, a shaman or holy person was someone with exceptional gifts of perception who was carefully trained in ceremonial practices. More than shows that impressed the neighbors, protocols of ceremonial practice were developed over generations to accomplish specific objectives. Gifted initiates were selected by elder shaman for strict testing and training over a lifetime.
Critical points in lunar and solar cycles were universally observed in ritual because these factors strongly affect human emotion and response. The date when Easter is observed, for example, is determined by the first full moon after the spring equinox determined by the Earth's relationship to the sun. One day each spring and one day each fall, day and night are equal lengths on equinoxes. On these days the Earth is in perfect equilibrium in orbit relative to the sun.
Peception via the brain is greatly affected by electromagnetic fields, so areas blessed with special qualities were used for sites of sacred pursuits. Constructed by unknown builders about 5,000 years ago, the megalithic observatory at Stonehenge, England is noted for unusual electromagnetic fields. At equinoxes, areas around some stones display extraordinary electromagnetic fields while others show no electromagnetic field at Stonehenge.
Although the Celtic priesthood of Druids used the Stonehenge structure, but the ancient megaliths were built thousands of years before the Celts migrated into the region. Like other very ancient sacred sites, Stonehenge was built near faultlines where extraordinary Earth energies emanate. Rather than seek the comfort of safe grounds, high energy locations were sought out for sacred sites.
The Tibetans whose only national product was spiritual enlightenment became strong on the Himalayan mountain peaks, some of the harshest terrain on the planet. While all Tibetan families contributed to the spiritual community, the leaders were selected for DEMONSTRATED ability that harnessed the power offered through environment.
By definition, the sacred "connects" or "belongs" to a greater power but is not the source of power per se. In the same sense that a map represents a territory but is not the territory, sacred sites, times, and practices are gateways of connection.

A sacred site where native people gathered for ceremony and healing each summer, Soap Lake was known as the "Healing Waters" or Smokiam in the native language.
At the nexus of deeply contrasting terrains, the elements of healing and vision
questing cherished in native traditions characterize the lake.
On Soap Lake's north side, the Cascades rise up to form the Ring of Fire. On the south side, flat plains of the Eastern
Washington desert sweep away from the lake. Resembling Mars more than any other area on Earth, the planet's most outstanding coulees caused by glacial floods dominate the area. Solid
granite bedrock in eastern Washington formed 60 million years ago after an astroid impact in
Mexico changed the planet forever.
The piezo electric effect created with quartz crystal in the
granite bedrock of the coulees characterize sacred sites globally. The coulees offer an ideal
setting for vision questing mysteries of the veil, or illusion of time-space, in the twilight of dawn
or dusk.
The historic Native American camp at Lake Lenore features cave dwellings in the
mountains where Chief Joseph retreated after his long march to Canada.
Near the caves, the
world's largest dry falls rival the staggering proportions of Niagara Falls. Draining through
series of deep subterranean channels, deposits of minerals from lakes high in the Cascade
Mountains settle in Soap Lake for an extraordinary mineral content. Only one other lake at
Baden Baden, Germany compares to Soap Lakes mineral complex.
Throughout known history,
Soap Lake water has been used for healing by Native as well as European Americans. The
central role of Washington's geology in the changing Earth was pointed out with a crop circle
made at Kennewick, 70 miles south of Soap Lake, in 1993. Together with a crop formation in
New York, the Kennewick crop circle forms an equilateral triangle with Native America's
oldest pyramids in Mexico. Depicting changes taking place within the Earth, the Kennewick
crop circle vitally links eastern Washington in the planetary grid system.

BRINGING DREAMS INTO WAKING LIFE
Sara Ray guides the mind through states of the
heart with dream symbols, purposes and meanings. The class will be conducted in caves and
natural settings like those that inspired ancient dream sanctuaries. Sara Ray's path leads through
more and less traditional studies of mythology, psychology, religious thought, both East and
West, antiquated and contemporary. With a Master's degree in the field of Social Work, she is
the author of The Ladybug I Ching.
HEALING BY SHERRY RICHARDSON
An intuitive
healer, Sherry presents methods for integrating the body's wholeness and well being, aligning
and balancing the body, activating cellular memory, and restoring the nervous system.
THE LIVING LIGHT BODY
Sandra Sitzman M.S., C.M.T. presents energy work with kirlean-aura
photography, subtle energy and therapeutic massage techniques. She is co-author with Lawrence
Kennedy of Terra In Transition and Thunderous Days Of Change.
OUR LINK TO THE STARS
Lawrence Kennedy Ph.D. will be your guide to the night sky with a star watch and class on solar
astronomy from emphasizing our connections to the Pleiades, Orion, and Sirius. He is co-author
with Sandra Sitzman of Terra In Transition and Thunderous Days Of Change.
THE POWER OF TIME
Krsanna Duran reviews change prophesied by the ancient Maya and clarified with
modern crop circle messages. Krsanna's predictions for 1,460 days of change pinpointed dates
the Loihi seamount collapsed in the Pacific, eruptions of solar flares that disabled satellites, and
the beginning of world-changing earthquakes at the Antarctic. This class looks at the the
biological clock memorialized in the Sun and Moon Pyramids of Mexico and proofs for the
260-day sacred calendar. Krsanna Dura n is the author of The Once & Future Earth - TimeStar.
SACRED SITE TOUR
Timothy Ray will lead a tour of caves, historical sites and petroglyphs
in the Soap Lake area. A farmer with an avid interest in Native American history, Timothy has
explored the geological features of the area for 22 years.
