PINE BUSH DRAWING DOWN THE ALIEN GATHERING

Friday, October 27-Sunday, October 29 For ride info call Delores, 768-5220

from John O'Leary

Hey there fellow space aged faerie-

I wanted to clue you into this fabulous upcoming gathering in Pine Bush, NY (which is only two hours out of NYC). Pine Bush has been a popular gathering site for years among the North Eastern faeries. The facilities are excellent with huge indoor space, kitchen, recreation hall and multiple bed rooms; accommodations for the faerie masses are no-problem. It's also cheap with a suggested donation of $25 a night (of course no one will be turned away for lack of funds). The gathering will happen on the last weekend in October (10/27-10/29) and is being billed as our Halloween gathering, but hold on...it gets better! Pine Bush, NY is the UFO epicenter of the whole North East (there are those who say the world). With a huge number of UFO sightings and reported abductions each year Pine Bush is the number one UFO hot spot in the country, and also the area where the novel (and hit movie) "Communion" takes place.

The time has come for the faeries to initiate contact, and that's exactly what we're planning to do. During this three day gathering the theme will be drawing down the aliens. This means making contact by any means possible, (and it doesn't have to be just with aliens, anything goes). It's up to the faeries to bridge this social gap, and the time has never been better!

The main ritual will involve all of us dressing in our most fabulous techno space-age drag as we prepare to formally encounter the aliens. We will form a giant circle (it will be night time) outside on the grounds. Everyone will have a light source (flashlight, candle etc) which we will shine upwards creating a giant saucer shaped invitation/landing field. From there the possibilities are endless. Then afterwards (since we'll al= l be decked out in our most fabulous space suits) we'll be having a huge "welcome aliens" rave.

You should be getting the call, and it will be mentioned in the faerie gram, but I thought you should be informed pronto-like. I got your email address from one of the '95 gathering mailing lists (Short Mt or Blue Heron).

I was just in San Francisco (Folsum Street Fair) and I heavily talked this gathering up. The whole West coast faerie community is elated by the concept and holding a collective breath in anticipation of the events of this gathering. It's already made faerie history, please try to make it!!!!!

If you have any questions you can email me at nfn@netcom.com, or call (718) 788-2656. Ask for John and I'll give you all the details...

NEW YORK GENERAL CUSTER CIRCLES

FAERIE SHOPPING CIRCLE

The date for the faerie shopping circle is actually this Saturday, October 14. So sweets, the copy in TT #5 *should* have read: Saturday, October 14, 2:00 Domsey Trading Corp. 431 Kent Avenue, 384-6000 Where do faeries find festoonery? How do they develop their acute fashion sense? Do workboots and costume jewelry make for an air of proletarian glamour? Answer the first of these questions as faeries gather at Maison Domseys, Second Hand Clothes Boutique Extaordinaire (Cheep!) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Come and rummage racks, barnstorm bins and add variety and sophistication to your wardrobe. Afterwards, a drag d=E9rive... *from Guy Debord, Theory of the Derive (1956)* In a derive, one or more persons during a certain period drop their usual motives for movement and action, their relations, their work and leisure activities, and let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there. Proviso: This is an unhosted circle. Though Cypress will be there. Maybe Trixie, too.

OK, NOW THE MUSINGS...

Been away for a while.

Been working real hard on a book about the Internet, somebody else's book, nice guy, and smart (hi, Eric!)

Been thinking real hard about the Internet.

Been skeptical of the Internet.

Been thinking that the notion of the planetary mind is just the latest incarnation of the patriarchal urge to detach from the body, to float senseless, feelingless, a big rational void where the flesh used to be.

Been noticing sometimes, though, that I do connect with other consciousness on the net and it can be uncanny, like this blending that sometimes I don't even want but I have to deal because it's there.

Sometimes, though, I do want it and it can be fun.

WHAT I'M THINKING NOW

I think the thing to do is to play with it and to not worry about deadlines and artificially created responsibilities.

Not to trap myself in situations where I have to give up control/power because somebody else wants it.

I mean, we can both have it.

To focus on where I live, wherever that is.

To get more announcements out, more quickly, so there are more fun things to= do.

To get some help.

To get some eye makeup lessons.

To get to bed, because I'm tired.
