It's over the hills and far away as D. C. Waldorf journeys to the Pacific Northwest in search of volcanic glass. With a stop at Glass Buttes to collect material, D.C. is off to the Cascade Range to knap a nice piece of obsidian into a large point. Then it is off to Arlington, Washington to discuss the ins and out of using a rock saw for slabbing material. D. C., shows us how to edge a sawed slab and tackles breaking up a monster nodule with only a hammerstone. Finally it is off to Bowman's Bay for some final instructions on how to use those small chips and irregular chunks.
With scenic interludes and some of the best knapping footage ever, Working Obsidian has lots of good instruction on the nuances of flake removal, edge preparation and angles needed to remove flakes. This tape is aimed at the beginner to intermediate knapper.
