  • Peer To Peer Networking
Peer to peer technology is a file transfer and file sharing technology that works by forming a network between end users computers, rather than relying on a central server for distribution. The capacity of such a network automatically scales with the number of users since it uses the end users resources.

Do you build your own or hack and maim manufactured boxes? If so I'm sure you've run up against certain hardware that just will not play nice with other hardware or only works with certain operating systems, etc. This is a place to exchange such information, generally how to get things to work.

  • Linux
Linux is a open-sourced Unix like operating system. It has a lighter system call interface than Unix and as a result it's performance is generally better. It's available for a wide variety of platforms. It shares much in common with Unix systems and Unix based systems like MacOS X which is BSD based.

  • MacOS
MacOS X, the current Mac operating system, is based upon the BSD Unix operating system on top of a Mach micro-kernel, with a Mac finder like interface. Very similar to the NextStep, an operating systems that ran on Next computers in the mid-80's. Apple purchased Next in 1996 with the intent of developing the next generation of MacOS based on NextStep. It was way ahead of it's time in the mid-80's and I think still somewhat today.
