1 Year 56k, ISDN, DSL, or remote subscriptions now come with 40MB of disk
quota, 2 year 56k, ISDN, DSL or remote subscriptions now come with 100MB disk
quota.
The intent here is to allow people more space for web development, etc,
and at the same time encourage upgrading from v.34 or to longer term
subscriptions.
If you've spent some time in RAND-O-DEX, or just looking through the user
web sites here; it's pretty amazing what some people have done. I'm hoping
that extra space will provide the freedom for people to do more.
At the same time I'd like to spend less of my time doing basic daily
accounting and longer term subscriptions accomplish that, so I am providing
some incentive for same.
Lastly, the V.34 modem pool is aging, virtually every one of the Annex-3
comm servers is somewhat less than perfect now. One is fried completely,
one has some dead ports, one has a power supply that if you shut it down it's
difficult to get back up. It's not possible to do PAP authentication and then
fall back to a prompted login which makes setup difficult.
So it is my desire to get these out of service as soon as practical. This
won't be possible completely until we have 56k available in all locations, but
we are working towards this end.
