Qwest called me this evening, told me circuit is connected to ATM switch.
I tried to turn it up in the router and up it went! Router sees the
switch and they appear to talk at least enough to bring the link up.
Now, I need a victim to order DSL who is willing to be the subject of
experiementation. They need to be someone with some time on their hands
willing to experiement a bit.
I need to figure out how to work the DHCP server in this router so we
can provide service with dynamic IP's as well as static.
I need to do some experiements to determine what options are best in terms
of latency and thruput.
I need to work out what is necessary from a configuration standpoint on
the user end of things so that we can adequately support users, and this
requires someone who is patiently willing to work with us while we figure this
out for various platforms.
And because of the need to support various platforms, it would be good if
the person in question had a multitude of platforms, Windows, Linux, Mac...
It would be good if they were local (north end) in case we need to come
over and mess with settings on that end.
If I can find a volunteer, what I am willing to provide in return is a
years service with no ISP charge. You'll have to pay the telco loop charge for
your circuit but I will not charge you an ISP charge. This is provided this
is for ordinary end user use, not server use.
