JDK 10 on Ubuntu 18.04

Post by Nanook » Sat Aug 25, 2018 9:01 pm

The JDK 10 environment in Ubuntu 18.04 is broken. It is missing some libraries necessary to work under Mate or Gnome. The fix is to install JDK 10 from Oracle.
To do this:

add-apt-repository ppa:linuxuprising/java
apt update
apt install oracle-java10-installer

This will uninstall other versions and it will make itself the default.
