The news machine is temporarily down to lock out some bad disk sectors. I
hadn't anticipated this would take long (under SUN/OS it takes about 2
seconds), but apparently SparcLinux feels the need to run a full fsck after it
adds the bad blocks to the bad block inode and on the news spool that can be an
hour+ so that is why the lengthier than anticipated downtime.
