          EMERGENCY MAINTENANCE ANNOUNCEMENT

          Purpose for maintenance: Network fix

          Maintenance date: 09/22/98

          Maintenance start time: 23:00 EST

          Estimated end time: 23:45 EST

Details of maintenance: First we will power down the router
Next we remove the vip2 from slot 5
we then remove the fddi from the vip2 and set aside to be put with spares
Next we remove the vip2 from slot 6
we then remove the hssi from the vip2 and insert it in the vip2 from slot 5
          (move associated cable as well)
insert the vip2 back into slot 5
insert the new vip2 with fddi into slot 6 (attach fddi cable)
turn router back on and make sure everything is configured correctly....

Impact to customers: Many backbone wan links to dc will go down briefly while
          they switch to
protect ckts.... Customers might experience some delay while the ckts come and
          traffic reroutes...

Please bear with us as we work to resolve this issue. We thank you for your
          patience and patronage.

          James Milne,
