In the process of preparing for a library upgrade to glibc, Aaron unpacked
a tar file in the root directory. Unfortunately, it changed the permissions on
the root directory. Sorry for the downtime but it took us a while to figure
out exactly what had changed.
We want to get these machines upgraded to glibc and the newer kernels
because glibc fixes NIS problems which will make the machine a lot more
effecient, and the newer kernels fix some NFS problems.
