Will this affect the Tacoma 56K dial-up, and mail?? How?
          Fredric

During this time, they will be rebooting routers to load new software all
over the net. When the router serving any given area is down, that area will
not be reachable, at all. When they reboot the router serving us, we will be
isolated from the Internet for the amount of time it takes that router to load
          the new code.

The 56k pool is using NapNet for backbone connectivity, so in terms of
directly getting to some host, it will only be affected if the host is on
Sprint, or the Sprint router serving us is down preventing you from getting to
          name servers.

E-mail will not propogate to a location for which the router is down in
the process of rebooting, but since e-mail queued at the sending site, this
will only cause a delay in delivery. However, when they reboot the router that
serves our site here, you will not be able to get to your e-mail box or send
mail for the time it takes to complete booting (or do much of anything else for
that matter since most everything depends upon name service that you won't be
able to get to during that time).

No one location will be out for the entire six hours, more on the order
of ten or fifteen minutes, but the entire activity will take approximately
six hours to get all of the locations.
