     New drives arrived today and I attempted to connect them to the slow
controller with an adapter cable thinking I could make the file systems,
etc prior to putting the faster controller in but crashed the machine in the
process.  The controller didn't like all seven drives on it and part of the
problem is that it's doubly terminated and that is not easily resolved until
we get the second controller installed, which requires a kernel rebuild amoung
other things.  So right now it's fsck'ing the partitions and will be back up
as soon as that completes.
