Earlier tonight www died with the spin_lock problem that exists with
Linux 2.2.x on Sparc SMP platforms.
Then about 15 minutes ago, www2 died in a strange manner. It just started
getting slower and slower on the web, keystrokes on the console echo but it
does not respond. For example if you type a login and return at the login
prompt, it never comes back with a password prompt. I could switch virtual
consoles, but control-alt-delete doesn't reboot. I had to hard boot the
machine.
No sooner did www2 come back up when www died again with the same
spin_lock problem as earlier. It is presently going through the file system
checks and will be back up shortly.
WWW2 is not a multi-CPU platform and is generally pretty stable. There
were no errors on the console or logged so I do not know what caused it to
crash.
