A data provider in the Palatine, IL area is down "hard", and
techs are working with GTE in the area to get things going again.
This is affecting authentication on the 56k/ISDN lines as well as
routing, since our peering point with those lines lies in
Chicago, IL.
Also, numerous busies on the Seattle/Everett/Tacoma 56k/ISDN
lines are still being reached in evening hours as these reach
capacity, and while one technician told me tonighit this was
caused by the same issue, another had mentioned lines are
reaching capacity and that more equipment/lines had been ordered
to help this as well. Trying again a few minutes later after
reaching such busies still tends to get an answering line.
Problem: Routing Issue
Location: Global
Time: 23:16 2/8/2000 CST
Status: ONGOING
Situation: GTE field engineers have been dispatched to the
problem area. No ETA has been given at this point.
Problem: Routing Issue
Location: Regional
Time: 22:29 2/8/2000 CST
Status: ONGOING
Situation: GTE is currently having problems with the router out
of our Palatine, IL. facility. Mail servers and
authentication will be affected by this occurrence.
No ETA has been given, however, is top priority at
our providers.
