The /usr/lib/news file system was severely damaged in the crash last
evening (just before midnight).
The result was that history was lost; by the time the fsck finished,
history was a zero-length file.
I am restoring the history database from a tape written earlier in the
evening yesterday and then when that finishes I will run a mkhistory -bu to
bring the history database in sync with what is on the news spool.
This process takes many hours and during this time the system will not be
able to process news.
Your patience in this matter is appreciated, there is not anything I can
do to make it go faster.
