I heard from both Dave at MegaPOP and an engineer there today and now have
a handle on what is going on.
There are three seperate issues:
1) Broken terminal server equipment.
Replacements are expected to arrive from the manufacturer and be
installed on Tuesday March 7th.
2) Capacity issues, additional circuits were ordered some time ago
but have been delayed by the telco (ELI). Because this has been
an ongoing problem they are in the process of building a second
POP in Seattle at a different location.
3) Trunking shortage between ELI and US West. Additional trunks
have been ordered and the order has been expedited.
So the non-capacity issues, recording, cut-off's, should be resolved when
defective equipment is replaced on 3/7/2000, and that should also help somewhat
with capacity since equipment that isn't presently working will be working and
available to handle traffic.
Longer term, a second POP is being built that will be turned up and
additional capacity is still on order for the existing POP and will be in place
when ELI completes the order.
