The Chigaco area -- where the authentication occurs on 56k/ISDN
lines -- is getting hit hard by wind storms and power outages at
the moment (with another storm on the way, it turns out), and a
problem with authentication for ISDN and Dual-56k subscribers was
caused by this. Servers are up on generators at the moment, and
the radius for these dual-channel accounts was just now rebooted
to return this authentication. Things should be back up.
Our own servers here in Seattle were not affected by this, only
the dialup and authentication for ISDN/Dual-56k users.
I'll keep an eye on the status of the storm, too.

Problem: Power Outage
Location: Global
Time: 17:34 5/18/2000 CST
Status: ONGOING
Situation: Commercial power is still out at our main facility. All
servers and services will continue to run indefinitely on Battery and
Generator power.
A second severe storm cell is headed towards our location. We will
continue to monitor the weather and will post an update in the event
that it may cause any further disruptions to our facility.
At this time all servers are fully operational and are expected to
continue operations un-interrupted.
Problem: Power Outage
Location: Global
Time: 16:45 5/18/2000 CST
Status: ONGOING
Situation: Commercial power is still out at our main facility in
Palatine, IL. All servers and services are running on battery and
generator power at this time, and will continue to do so until
commercial power is restored.
The phone system has been restored to service.
No service interruptions ( Radius, DNS, WWW, Email, etc.) were
experienced due to this power outage, and none are expected due to the
Generator and Battery backup systems.
Updates will be posted here as the situation warrants.
