When we first put the SSL server online, we went with the Stronghold SSL
server just because it was about the only thing completely legally in the
clear.
Now that RSA has released the patents to public domain, (and they will
expire in less than a week anyway), the Apache SSL module becomes a legally
viable option and we could enable SSL on our main server rather than having
to keep a seperate server for SSL.
I haven't been able to find another LX base yet; I have no source for
Stronghold, so I can't run it on a different platform, so getting the Apache
SSL module up may be the fastest way to get SSL services back online.
However; I'm not familiar with it as I have never used it. If anybody
is familiar with it and has any hints/tips please feel free to share them.
I've got calls in to three places that normally carry Sun equipment but
they are all closed on the weekends.
