For reasons I don't fully understand, load on the main web server and on
the incoming mail servers (those which handle e-mail incoming from the net) is
unusually high.
I rebooted a file server used for both but it had no impact, I also
rebooted the web server, and it didn't resolve the situation.
On the web server, the hits aren't above normal, but for some reason a CGI
program used by earthcng, livectr, and to a lesser degree a few CGI's used by
others to distribute ads, seem to be waiting on disk I/O more than normal.
On the mail server, the incoming volume is very heavy, way more than
normal, and I'm not seeing any obvious loops or other problems.
My spam load is also way above normal today. I don't know yet what is
causing this. Full moon perhaps. I don't know. Seems like the spammers are
extra busy but net activity in general is high for some reason.
