The news server crashed this evening with basically what amounts to an
out of memory situation (Linux kills processes at random when it's short on
memory and in the older 2.2.x kernels that includes important processes like,
in this case, swapper).
This will be fixed with the new server, both because it will be running
a newer kernel that's kinder in this situation, also because it will be
equipped with more RAM, and lastly because it will be using Reiserfs for the
news spool so a lengthy fsck won't be necessary in the event of a crash.
