This may be the same fiber repair situation that is slowing the Qwest
authentication problems; we do not know the details of the area affecting
the Qwest lines, even after the many calls last night, etc.
The update below is from the MegaPOP technicians, who are working on
repairing a fiber cut/burn at the location of a train crash/fire within a
tunnel.
-----
Our data provider for both the Syracuse (085) and Buffalo (092) POP
locations has now informed us that data engineers working to repair the
damaged fiber have been instructed to evacuate the tunnel once again by
officials at the crash scene. At this time they have had no word as to
when they will be once again able to regain access to the tunnel and
continue work on the fiber. We will continue to post all new updates
relating to this outage as soon as they are available.
