There is presently a dialup authentication outage. This is caused by a
problem at Bell South. There are two T1's that feed the location where the
authentication servers are located. They are from different carriers but Bell
South provides the local loop in both cases just as Qwest provides the local
loops in this area.
These were supposed to have diverse routing, that is to say they were
supposed to be provisioned in such as way that they had no equipment or
facility in common. Unfortunately Bell South goofed and have both T1's riding
the same T3 circuit which is presently failed.
We found out about this about three weeks ago during a similiar failure.
There is a service order in progress to move one of these circuits to different
facilities but it is not yet completed.
Bell South has technicians onsite working on this but they have not been
able to give us an ETR. This thus far has been the longest outage of this
circuit to date, I am hopeful that it won't go on much longer.
