The web/mail/shell outage at around 6:30AM this morning wsa caused by a stupid sub-human trick by me. I had made a new kernel for another machine here because I forgot to include a patch that improves responsiveness under load and it was being a slug. When I went to reboot it, it did not shut down properly. I then proceeded to power-cycle the wrong machine, and power-cycled the main file server by mistake.
