Rebooted the news server in an attempt to clear drive space errors (with quite a lot of available space on the drives it still came up with 'no space left' errors), and the disks came up scanning upon the boot. A manual scan is running on the spool partition (the large one that holds the articles and takes a few hours to complete), so it should be back up in 3-4 hours.
