News
No news isn't good news in the case of a news server...
Yesterday, a power supply for an external drive case that holds the drives
for the news spool died.
It has been replaced and a special invokation of fsck run that calls bad
blocks to locate bad sectors and lock them out and then runs a file system
integrity check and cleans up any inconsistancies.
The badblocks portion of this takes a long time to run since it involves
reading every block on the spool a block at a time.
This is all completed now and the news server is back up and functioning
again.
