Expand the "Mail and Newsgroups" section by clicking the plus [+] by the title.
Click on "Mail and Newsgroups" if this is not yet selected.
This is mainly for formatting and your own preferences, but selecting "Fixed width font"
in the Display section here will allow you to view messages as they are viewed with
most mail programs to aid in compatability.
Select the "Identity" section.
The biggest priority in this window is the email address. This should be set to your
login name@eskimo.com (or anything at your domain if you host a domain with us). You
can enter anything you wish for "Your name".
Select the "Newsgroups Servers" section.
Chances are in this window, you want to add a new entry in the (possibly empty) list of
news servers. Click on "Add" to do this in the following window:
In this window, the server name should be set to "eskinews.eskimo.com" and set to the port 119 (probably the default entry already) in the available text boxes. Netscape will ask for your username/password only if needed (always on 56k dialups and remote connections, never on the slower-speed dialups), so that option can be safely turned off.
Back at the "Newsgroup Servers" window, be sure that the entered news server appears in the list.
Select the "Formatting" option.
To keep your outgoing mail compatable with everyone else's mail programs (especially those
not also using Netscape Messenger), be sure to select "Plain text" for both the formatting
and sending options. Click "OK".
The first time you log in to retrieve news or subscribe to known group names,
Netscape will download the list of active newsgroups from the server. This may
take a few minutes. If it asks for your username and password, use the same
pair you requested for your regular Eskimo account (not the pair we assigned
to you for 56k/ISDN or other access).
NOTE: If you have a non-dedicated (real) SLIP/PPP account,
you may have a different password set for logging in via SLIP/PPP.
Your news password is the same as your emulated SLIP/PPP password.
