Sportsmen for Responsible Energy Development (SFRED)
(originally Sportsmen for
Responsible Oil and Gas Development)
Unincorporated entity acting as a front for three green groups:
National Wildlife Federation,
Trout Unlimited, and
Theodore
Roosevelt Conservation Partnership.
SFRED's
primary actions have been directed to eliminating oil and gas
production on federal and state government lands.
Sportsmen for Responsible
Energy Development (SFRED) is not an exempt organization listed
in Internal Revenue Service
Publication 78,
Cumulative List of Organizations described in Section
170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
SFRED is not incorporated in any state or
registered with the District of Columbia, according to a
diligent web search. It is an artificial
creation with no legal existence. It was originally named “Sportsmen
for Responsible Oil & Gas Development.”

Sportsmen for Responsible Oil and Gas Development (pdf)
-
Created by the National Wildlife Federation, Trout
Unlimited and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, the
Sportsmen for Responsible Energy Development lays out the concerns
many hunters and anglers have with the rapid pace of energy
development in the West and offers solutions to Congress that they
hope will become federal policy. The Sportsmen for Responsible Oil
and Gas Development asks Congress to increase financial resources to
state and federal fish and wildlife managers; increase public
involvement; put in place protective measures of the most important
fish and wildlife habitat; and to ensure the protection of both
water quality and water flows. Some of these solutions are already
being considered in the 2007 Energy Bill. Read the entire
Sportsmen for Responsible Oil and Gas Development
(pdf).

This
prefabricated coalition’s website stated on the same page:
This
anti-drilling statement posted next to its conservation claims
exposed the real intention of the coalition’s creators so plainly
that even a casual observer could see that it is not possible to be
“for responsible oil and gas development” without drilling new oil
and gas wells. After all, if you simply remove the word
“responsible” from the name, it says Sportsmen for Oil and Gas
Development.
That
ran counter to the true intent and could not be allowed. So, the
coalition’s creators artfully and deceptively changed the name to
Sportsmen for Responsible Energy Development, with a new website
http://www.sportsmen4responsibleenergy.org/.
If you remove the word “responsible,” the name says Sportsmen for
Energy Development. They
can now claim to support wind, solar, biofuels and other “energy”
while opposing oil and gas development without the obvious
contradiction.
This
despicable effort to disguise malicious intent has successfully
attracted the support of many sportsmen who personally do not wish
to see oil and gas development stopped or damaged.
Conclusion:
Sportsmen
for Responsible Energy Development and its
creators, the National Wildlife Federation, Trout Unlimited, and the
Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership are conspiring to
destroy America's oil and gas industry on
federal and state public land without the
slightest regard for the public need for oil and gas to power our
great nation. If they wish to attest that they
have good will toward oil and gas development, they may contact
The
Librarian.
Sportsmen for
Responsible Energy Development claims the following entities as
"partners," which appears to indicate they have the intent to
destroy oil and gas operations on government lands in America. Those
that attest to the Green Tracking Library that they have good will
toward oil and gas development will be noted. Contact
The
Librarian. Those that do not may be regarded as Energy Killers
acting against the public interest.
