Im sure you've all noticed the escalating problems with crime and violence in this country and you've probably also noticed that filling our prisons to capacity and making more laws not only doesn't seem to be helping - things seem to be getting worse.
 
If we eliminate what I think is the number one cause of the crime problems in the U.S. then we will once again have a society where we feel safe for our kids, for our posessions, and for our lives.
 
There was ONE OTHER period in this nations history where we had the same problems with crime:
 
An escalating MURDER rate.
 
Kids in Gangs - Gang membership out of control
 
Drive by shootings
 
and the proliferation of automatic and semi automatic weapons
 
    THAT was during prohibition.
 
The current cycle of crime and violence skyrocketed with the introduction of the well intentioned but poorly imposed 'WAR ON DRUGS'.
 
The best estimate is that the illegal drug trade is 40 billion dollars a year.
 
Consider, if drugs were not illegal, there would be no ILLEGAL DRUG TRADE.
 
If we take 40 billion dollars a year out of the hands of CRIMINALS
 
there will be 40 billion dollars worth of LESS CRIME in this country
 
There will be LAYOFFS of criminals
 
40 billion dollars supports about 1 million kids a year
 
    - who instead of going into a life of crime
  
    - would become regular citizens with normal honest jobs
 
    SIMPLY if the money wassnt there to support them as criminals
 
without an illegal drug trade - there would be:
 
No drug PUSHERS in the schools - 'cause selling drugs illegally simply would not be profitable
 
Drug DEALERS will not be role models - nobody could get rich quick selling drugs.
 
Thefts, robberies, and break ins will go down - since illegal drug habits are responsible for most of them
 
we will REDUCE our prison overcrowding - and then we can then use prisons for truly violent and career criminals - rather than just throwing more KIDS in jail.
 
The MURDER rate will DROP
 
GANG MEMBERSHIP will DROP
 
and GUN VIOLENCE will almost DISAPPEAR
 
SCHOOLS will be safe again
 
and this isnt even to mention the HUGE benefit to taxpayers
 
It is not drug USAGE that is being advocated - rather it is eliminating the uncontrollable and overwhelming problems that result from an illegal drug trade.
