I am in my lower 40's. Single. My main hobby is hiking, backpacking, and climbing. I spend a bit of time on my computer. I like to ride my bike. I like to read. I like to discuss religion and beliefs. Sometimes I even like to discuss politics. (I've never been real politically oriented, but I find that as I get older and become more of a curmudgeon that I am getting to be a lot more opinionated.) I am curious to what other people think and why. Psychology is one of my areas of interest. I also enjoy discussing new technology, inventions, science, and discoveries. Space and it's nature are always fun to contemplate.

My positive traits are that I'm intelligent, kind hearted, and have a good sense of humor. (Well, I think it's a good sense of humor, others may think it's a weird sense of humor.) I like nature and animals and care about how people feel.

My major weaknesses probably are that I'm a little shy socially and not very confident. Though I'm getting more so. I am friendly and I do keep myself in shape through hiking and bike riding, and I am playful.

I've always been an avid scrambler, getting out into the mountains with ice axe or just going off trail and making it to the top of the peaks. Whatever rock or hill looks interesting. In the last few years I've actually gotten into climbing with ropes, harnesses and gear. It's fun but tends to be expensive and adds a lot of weight to your pack.

As an intellectual exercise I tried studying astrology for a while. I find it interesting and there even seems to be some value in studying natal charts. It isn't just vague generalities as some critics try to claim, the readings are often very specific things that are true for me and not for most other people. On the other hand, I can find no relationship between the motion of the planets (daily horoscope) and events that occur in my life. So, I have to remain pretty skeptical on what astrology can do.

The only TV shows I really watch regularly are science fiction shows. I like the star trek series (Deep Space 9 and Voyager) and Earth final conflict. Also, some comedy. I usually try and catch the Simpsons and like to watch Almost Live a local comedy show. Mostly though, I don't watch very much television.

In October of '95 I took up playing the recorder. It's fun to sit down with it and screech out tunes. Dunno if I'm any good, but have improved quite a bit over time.

Well, that just scratches the surface. Maybe I can eventually improve or add to this page to give a better idea of what a Dave is. Hopefully some of my other writings also may lend insight into my character, though some of the creative writing and dreams may be misleading as to the type of person I really am.
