History:

The powers that be in the West Gippsland Football League decided at the commencment of SPARF Season 5 to buy into the lucrative SPARF market, and after much discussion, choose The Goon over the other ridiculously named teams within the league (and occassional ex-teams), Koo-Wee-Rup, Bunyip, Catani, Korumburra and Lang Lang. The fact that Nar Nar Goon started on G (God) Ablett on his "losing finals" way (defeating Drouin in '79 Swamps Paddock, Cora Lynn) was said to have weighed heavily on there decision. Sponsorship was forthcoming from the local Pub, along with support form so local ex-VFL players; Matt Cunningham, John Cunningham and Barry Cunningham. Hence a bid was made for the quickly forgotten Unforgetable Fire who Irish Base had become increasing disappointed at the managments inability to recruit Jim Stynes or Sean Wight. In a cruel twist, Gary "God" Ablett, along with his father, Ablett Sr where both on the team list, ensuring that this team will never amount to anything

Predictions for the season: Players to Watch: Unnameed Player, Nameless Player
