Proverbs...on the wrong way to speak:
Pr.6:16-19:
16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers. (NIV)
Pr.11:9
With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous escape. (NIV)
Pr.11:12-13:
12 A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his tongue. 13 A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret. (NIV)
Pr.12:18
Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. (NIV)
Pr.13:3
He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin. (NIV)
Pr.16:27-28:
27 A scoundrel plots evil, and his speech is like a scorching fire. 28 A perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends. (NIV)
Pr.18:8
The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man's inmost parts. (NIV)
Pr.18:13
He who answers before listening-- that is his folly and his shame. (NIV)
Pr.26:23-28:
23 Like a coating of glaze [a] over earthenware are fervent lips with an evil heart. 24 A malicious man disguises himself with his lips, but in his heart he harbors deceit. 25 Though his speech is charming, do not believe him, for seven abominations fill his heart. 26 His malice may be concealed by deception, but his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly. 27 If a man digs a pit, he will fall into it; if a man rolls a stone, it will roll back on him. 28 A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin. (NIV)
Pr.29:5
Whoever flatters his neighbor is spreading a net for his feet. (NIV)
