Snow Events

A little update on the weather out here. Late last week we had a light dusting of snow. This week we had snow on Christmas day. Only a trace amount. Not enough to classify as a white Christmas. National Weather Service states that at least 1 inch of accumulation is required to qualify. However at that, snow fall on Christmas is just as rare here anyway. I came home from work tonight at about 5pm to find 1 inch of snow on the ground. The National Weather Service has issued a Snow advisory for all of the Puget Sound lowlands Tomorrow (Thursday) last I read snow starting with a mix of rain Thursday morning should turn all to snow and leave 1-3 inches of snow on the ground through out the day. It also calls for drying down slope winds near the Cascade foot hills to cause a "drying" effect and cause less accumulation there in towns such as Gold Bar. We shall see...

Current Temp: 32.2ºF
Humidity: 98%
Wind: Calm
Current weather: mostly cloudy

Sorry, I don't have the highs and lows right now, during maintence on the weather station I accidently broke the communication between the array and the base unit. I have fixed it this evening. I should have the station online updating every 5 minutes once again here in a day or two. As a gift I was given a purchase of the weather software, I am just waiting on the company to provide the registration code now. I shall report again tomorrow evening should significant weather occure as forcast.

Winter Storm update

I wanted to give an update of the current weather here in Big Bend, Gold Bar.

Current outside temp: 32.2ºF
Wind: 8.1mph ENE
Gust: 17.5mph NE @ 1:54am
Gust last hour: 13.2mph SE @ 11:17am
Conditions: Heavy Snow, Breezy.

I measured several different spots in the area and the current snow depth is between 9.5 and 12 inches.

They keep saying its going to turn into rain but we're coming up at Noon and it is still all snow. I will post again after the rain starts falling or as I see anything else significantly happen.
