This "odd" Java applet is a live demonstration of the bell-shape distribution of balls falling into 8 slots. Each ball in a stream of balls is randomly deflected left, or right, as it falls through 7 rows of pegs and ends up in one of 8 slots. The theoretical distribution of 128 balls falling into the 8 slots is:
1, 6, 20, 37, 37, 20, 6, 1
Watch the balls zigzag the rows of pegs in a random manner and fall into the slots! Probably, the Wizard of Odds is in control of such random events...
Uncle Chuck's latest interactive java applet (freeware of course)! Version 2.0 released January 6, 2004.
You are the MOUSE; your computer is the CAT. The CAT's moves are automatically determined by Uncle Chuck's very own shortest path algorithm. There are hundreds of different chase areas based on 'recycled' Sokoban levels.
Two versions are available. Which is better, you be the judge.
In version 1.2, you handicap Uncle Chuck's CAT and go on a merry chase. If you can operate the MOUSE to out maneuver his "BEST +" cat, Uncle Chuck would like to shake your hand!
Version 2.0 is a major improvement over version 1.2. It is more game-like. It is a nine-level game, and the play is scored.
Uncle Chuck shares with you his personal retirement planning calculator (a Java applet) that computes retirement income, outgo, and assets depletion for each year of retirement.
