On 30 March 2007 in the warm waters west of Hawai'i Island's Kohala Coast, Joe Olson made this recording of Humpback Whales with the SQ26-MT portable underwater recording system.
Much thanks to Kurt Kiesow of the Jupiter Research Foundation for organizing the whale watching/listening trip with Eye of the Whale. Most of the humpbacks had already started their journey north to the rich Alaskan feeding waters by the end of March, and the Kohala coast is one of the last places where a few singers remained.
