We would like to thank all those who contributed books to the library collection and also to our used book sale. A selection of used books left over from the sale are still available for purchase in the library; come browse during the library's open hours. We are happy to accept donations to the collection or the used book sale at any time. Donations may be put into the book drop opposite Room 345 of the Good Shepherd Center; leave a note on your books if you would like a receipt for tax purposes.
Available for check-out from our library are several books written by two of our fall speakers. Books by James Hollis are The Middle Passage, Tracking the Gods, Under Saturn's Shadow, Swamplands of the Soul, and his newest book, The Eden Project. We have Naomi Lowinsky's Stories from the Motherline: Every Woman's Journey to Find Her Female Roots.
Recent additions to the Kate Millard Memorial Collection include Reality of the Psyche, edited by Joseph Wheelwright; The Mythic Image, by Joseph Campbell, and A Chrono-logical Catalogue of Jung's Writings in German, English, and French, compiled by Juliette Vieljeux.
We want to give a big thank you to Judith Capili for all the work she has done in the past year in staffing the library.
We are looking for members who will volunteer to staff the library and who are willing to make a four-month commitment. Please call and leave your name and phone number if you have any library questions. Existing shelf space is at a premium. We hope to raise enough money to purchase more custom-built bookcases.
For current library hours, see the Library Information page.
If you've visited the Jung Society library lately, you will have noticed that the shelves are jam-packed. While this is good news for readers, it is bad news for new book acquisitions. At present, the Society has limited new book acquisitions to only those titles written by our upcoming speakers. Because the library is fast approaching the limit of available shelf space, there simply is no room to put many more new books.
The Society hopes to purchase custom-built bookcases to match the walnut bookcases that were donated by Mary Irby in memory of Kate Millard. Over $500 was raised at the used book sale and auction at the annual meeting in May, and this money will be applied toward the purchase of new bookcases. We would like to raise an additional $1,200, so that the Society may purchase these bookcases. $1,200 comes to a mere $6 donation per member. Donations may be mailed to the Society's office.
