Annual Meeting to be held May 16

The Society is poised to begin its silver anniversary year. Our annual meeting will be a time for reflection on the past twenty-four years. Nancy Alvord, one of the founding members of our Society, will be our special guest; she will share her reminiscences about the early days of our Society. When the Society was new, it was known as the Friends of Jungian Psychology, and its modest library was, more often than not, stored in boxes in the garage at Nancy's home. Since 1996, thanks to Nancy's generous benefaction, our library of over 1,500 volumes is handsomely housed in the Good Shepherd Center. At this year's annual meeting we will extend our appreciation to her with the dedication of the Nancy Alvord Library.

We will hold a silent auction of a few special items. Among these items is a painting by the late Traudl Selves. In addition to being an accomplished painter, Traudl was a long-time member of the Jung Society, and served on its board.

Due to the great popularity of the used book sale at our annual meeting last year, we plan to offer more used books for sale. The success of this event depends on your donations of used books, so dust 'em off and bring 'em on in. Your donations of books (on psychology or other topics) will be warmly received at the Jung Society office any of the Mondays or Saturdays that the library is open, or at any of the lectures or the workshop in April and May.

The annual meeting will convene at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, in Room 202 of the Good Shepherd Center. Agenda includes installation of 1998-99 board members. A potluck dinner will be served. The main dish, salmon, will be provided by the Society, as will beverages; please bring hors d'oeuvres, a side dish, or a dessert. The meeting will adjourn at 6:00 p.m.
