Reflections from the President

As President of the Jung Society, these last four years have been filled with many new experiences, challenges, and opportunities to learn. Two things I loved most about being involved with Jung Society were the opportunity and pleasure of meeting the many interesting people who come to the lectures and to work with so many generous volunteers.

Our current board and the board elect is composed of dedicated new and long time volunteers who bring a wide variety of expertise to the Society. This last year, the energy and contributions of Erwin Buske and John Krausser have been particularly valuable to the organization of the Society. Under the direction of John, our membership has slowly increased over the past year after a period of decrease. John initiated a new member orientation this year and also has actively looked at ways to increase membership. Erwin Buske, our treasurer, has computerized Jung Societyís financial transactions and provided us with clear and thorough reports, a budget, and necessary forms for tracking information.

The Good Shepherd Center has become a home for both our programs and our library during these last four years. We continue to be indebted to Nancy Alvord for the financial support she provides that allows us to have a library. We also take pride in the Kate Millard collection and the library bookcases donated by Mary Irby, Kateís aunt.

As I leave office, I extend my deep appreciation once again to all our members, volunteers, the Jungian analysts in our community who support Jung Society with their presence and expertise, and the members of the Jungian Psychotherapists Association who continue to support our progress. I am deeply grateful to all of you for your support and am grateful for the privilege of having served the Jungian community as President of the Jung Society these last four years. I leave with the assurance that we have a strong and competent board of directors, focused on fulfilling Jung Societyís mission to bring Jungís work to the Seattle community.
