Elizabeth's biography

Elizabeth Liddle's Bio

A native of Scotland, Elizabeth Liddle moved to Vancouver from the UK in 1994. She had become interested in both early and contemporary music while at the University of York, and was a founding member of the mediaeval and renaissance ensemble, the Landini Consort. She went on to study the viol with Charles Medlam, and later with Jordi Savall at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She has performed and recorded with many of London's early music ensembles, including the Consort of Musicke, Fretwork, the Taverner Consort, and the Rose Consort of Viols. She is a member of Vancouver's Burney Ensemble, and directs her own group, Kawasha's Crew. Her interest in contemporary music remains, however, and her own music has been widely performed by such groups as the Hilliard Ensemble, the Orlando Consort and the Rose Consort, for whom she has commissioned new music from a number of contemporary composers.
