Clematis

* Clematis and Benches * Seedpods *

Clematis makes a good compantion for rhododendrons. They begin blooming at the end of the rhododendron season, but continue throughout the summer. They can be trained to climb the rhododendron trunks without harming their living trellis. Clematis do best with their base in the shade and their tops in the sun, so they should be placed on the south or west side of rhododendron beds.
