Tacoma Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society

Meeting Information

The Tacoma Chapter meets in the new Puyallup Public Library from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month, September through June. We have a social time and refreshments from 7:00 to 7:30. If you would like more information, you can call Bill or Julie Miller, co-presidents, at

smile4bill@hotmail.com.

For local chapters in other locations, check the directory on the American Rhododendron Society website.

Slide program topics have included seed collection trips to Asia, garden tours of the British Isles, northwest gardens, rhododendron species, propagation, American natives, specific rhododendron hybrid groups, and others.

We have a table at each meeting where you can buy new and used books about rhododendrons and companion plants at discount prices.

For the past fifty years, the June meeting has been a potluck dinner at the Point Defiance Rhododendron Garden.

Our meetings are a good place to make new plant friends and gather information, but also to acquire new rhododendrons and companion plants. First, each new member receives a free rhododendron. Plants are given away as door prizes. At each meeting we have a raffle with much better odds than the lottery. We have a cutting exchange in the fall and sometimes give out free seeds. Finally, we have a plant auction each year, where you can obtain high quality plants at very reasonable prices.

Come join us at a meeting and sample our friendly rhododendron community.
