Refurbishing the Garden Shelter Memorial Bench

dumps a load of gravel for the path through the new azalea garden.
Volunteers dug the path and spread the gravel. |

 | Jake discusses a
new trail through the rhododendron garden with Aaron Cady of
Metro Parks staff. The Park District has been very supportive
of the Tacoma ARS Chapter work. |
| For its part,
our ARS chapter has donated hundreds of plants, thousands of
hours of labor, and in 1978 constructed a large shelter in the
rhododendron garden for park visitors to use. We also donated
$500 for the sign and $2000 for general maintenance. |
