Where Did All the Plants Come From?

* History * Introduction *

Most of the rhododendrons in the garden were grown from cuttings in the above Nearing Frames. After rooting, they were placed under lath for a year or two, and then set out in the field above. Some were sold, and the rest filled the beds throughout the garden. For the first few years, the beds themselves (below) served as storage areas. Most plants in the garden have been moved several times. The beds have covered about half of the hayfield, and the lawn has just been seeded.
