Ervin says the last has not been heard Wednesday 9 July, 1997 (0:28am AEST) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ American Black activist, Lorenzo Ervin, who faces deportation, says he expected to be deported, before this afternoon's meeting with immigration officials. The Immigration Department cancelled his visa this afternoon on the grounds he was not of good character and his visit was not in the national interest. Lawyers for Mr Ervin have lodged an appeal in the Federal Court to stop him being deported in the middle of the night. Mr Ervin is blaming the Independent Member for Oxley, Pauline Hanson. He has warned the last has not been heard on the matter, desrcibing it as a threat to Australian civil liberties. Mr Ervin believes if Miss Hanson is able to have a person she is opposed to politically expelled, or stopped from coming into the country, then she possesses an inordinate amount of political power, and is a person to be feared.
