How does one go about it, and is it true that it heightens sexual sensitivity? Name and address withheld. It was no stretch for Cappy Rothman, MD, chief of urology and director of the In Vitro Fertilization and Embryo Recovery Program at Century City Hospital in Los Angeles, to answer this. Two methods of restoring the foreskin have been suggested: surgery and stretching the skin on the shaft until it extends past the head of the penis. I recommend neither. The surgical procedure, which involves a scrotal skin graft, has been done only a dozen or so times, and the possible complications exceed the benefits. Stretching usually involves extending penile skin past the tip and taping it or hanging weights on it for a prolonged time. However, the skin will not stay in its new position on its own. You're not really restoring your foreskin in either case, nor will you enhance sexual excitement. Some circumcised men seem to think they're missing out on the complete male sexual experience. While it's true that uncircumcised men may have a little more sensitivity because the head of the penis is covered and hasn't been desensitized, they also sexually transmitted diseases and are also more prone to phimosis, a constriction that prevents the foreskin from sliding off the head the way it's supposed to.
