Date: Sun, 22 Jan 1995 00:06:32 -0500 From: CircInfoNe@aol.com Subject: Action Alert, 95.01.21, Dr. Donohue The following blurb on circumcision appeared in Dr. Paul Donohue's column on 15 January 1995 in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle and possibly other newspapers: "QUESTION: Do guys who are not circumcised have a higher risk of getting AIDS? Please answer this question, which is of interest to many males. --O.D. "ANSWER: Not being circumcised is a risk factor for catching acquired immune deficiency syndrome. But there are a great many other risk factors, and most are more important and more directly related. I am thinking of great risks, such as promiscuous and unprotected sex. "The question of circumcision's protective role in preventing transmission of AIDS is not a fully explored one. Most say that any imputed protective value is probably not great, although it's one that should be respected." Send your questions to Paul G. Donohue, M.D., PO Box 5539, Riverton, N.J. 08077-5539...
