Also if this process released the sodium then the water would automatically ignite. He has to use a spark or flame to ignite the hydrogen/oxygen that is being released. If the sodium is not being released then its safe to say neither is the chloride gas.
Hopefully one day, this won't be the case anymore.

It would be nicer if he (or anyone) made "hot-cold-fusion" with borron insteed of salt.
